This is my third Shark vacuum. What I noticed is how each next-gen Shark vacuum tends to resolve the small issues with the ones before it. I love this company's attention to detail! In the case of this one, I notice that it has more power. While all work really, really well on hardwood and tile, some struggle on our throw rugs. Some cannot pick up little threads or some create little balls of hair but then cannot seem to pick it up. In this case, I noticed that our throw rugs are nearly as clean as when I use a conventional vacuum cleaner. And, that means less work for me. Love that. The downside is that it's noisy. And, the thing is that Sharks are notoriously noisy. The old ones, the very new ones, and even the highest of the high-end ... all are noisy. Now, we have a different brand in our basement and it's much quieter; however, it also has significantly less power. So, as far as I can determine, the noise is directly correlated to the vacuum's strength/power. To me, that's an entirely fair trade-off.Now, here's a tip: I was looking for how to connect this to my Alexa. I messed around for a day and then finally looked it up. You need to "teach" Alexa the Shark "skill." It takes seconds to tell Alexa to learn the skill. Then, you can just say the name of your vacuum and it's cleaning (or you can tell it to dock). It's super easy ... no "detection" needed. This is a solid robot vacuum. It makes your home cleaner, gets to places that are harder to reach, and is incredibly methodical. It is a wonderful gift for an older parent. It is fantastic as an adjunct to a self-emptying vacuum (which we keep on our first floor where most of the family spends their time). And, it is just plain fantastic for anyone else. Highly recommended.
